Try three different endings. Money, anger, need, illness, bodies, celebration.
2. Where did that rule show up in your week?
Not in your childhood. This week. A conversation you avoided, a compliment you deflected, an envelope you didn't open.
3. Who did the rule keep safe?
Most of these were load-bearing once. Someone was protected, some peace was held, someone got through something. Picture who.
4. What does it charge you now?
The rule outlived the danger it was built for. What does it cost you in a life it was never designed for?
5. Write the version you would choose.
Not the version you think you should want. The one you would actually live by.
